Philips WOWvx 3D TV Displays

Philips is on the forefront of the 3D technology curve with their mesmerizing WOWvx 3D TVs and displays.  The crucial feature in this 3D tech from Philips is the absence of a need for the viewer to wear 3D glasses to view images produced on the screen in true 3D.

That’s right.  No glasses required.  The effects are out-of-screen 3D effects.  The WOWvx displays even allow a range of viewing angles for multiple users to view the 3D image at the same time.  This IS the next step.  The Philips WOWvx TVs are what we will see in our living rooms in the next few years.

The Philips WOWvx displays offer the ability to view 3D and 2D video in different modes.  The displays are based on traditional high-definition (HDTV) formats and feature full brightness and contrast that we have come to expect from HDTVs.  This pushes the viewing zones toward the range and size that we are used to in our living rooms and media rooms.  The WOWvx flat panels feature quality and depth effect adjustments to fine tune the characteristics of the images in both 2D and 3D modes.

Currently, Philips offers the WOWvx displays in 20″, 42″ and 132″ formats.  The 20″ display is a 4:3 format - akin to a tradition computer monitor.  The 42″ display looks much like the currently LCD and plamsa flat panel televisions that we are all used to.  Both the 20 inch and 42 inch models feature VESA mounting capabilities.  If you aren’t familiar with mounting a TV on the wall, consider this guide on TV wall mounts for VESA capable displays.

The technology for the Philips WOWvx 3D TV is not quite ready for your living room though.  The 3DS media player is required to play 3D media on the displays.  As a result, the Philips WOWvx 3D displays are most appropriate for commercial applications.  Given the price, that is probably fine with most consumers for the time being.  To learn more about the Philips WOWvx 3D displays, visit Philips’ official site here.
